General Background. Coach Jeremy Paul grew up in Arlington attending St. Thomas More (STM) before moving on to Bishop O'Connell High School.He played sports for various Arlington County teams and STM.
Jeremy played basketball for STM in third through eighth grade and also played two years of AAU with the Fairfax Stars. In addition, Coach Jeremy played Arlington County Lacrosse in second through eighth grade.While at Bishop O'Connell, he played 3 years of Lacrosse and 1 year of Ice Hockey. After high school, Jeremy attended Marymount University where he played varsity lacrosse for 1 year.
He currently works for The Waddell Group with Raymond James Financial Services as the operations manager, as well as working with special needs and autistic children.
Coaching Experience. This is Coach Jeremy's third year with the Matrix and his third year coaching the 2018 Green team; he led the team to gold medals at D-II Districts in each of his first two years. Coach Jeremy caught the coaching bug early in life. After moving from STM to Bishop O’Connell, Coach Jeremy returned to St. Thomas Moore, moving from the court to the bench.
In his first stint as a head coach, Coach Jeremy led his STM 5th Grade team to 2nd place in CYO Division 3. In the next season, Jeremy moved up with the team and as 6th Graders, they won the Division 2 CYO regular season and tournament championship. Jeremy also served as an assistant coach for a variety of other STM teams over the years.
After having helped out with a variety of Matrix teams with a variety of different Matrix coaches over the years, in 2011 Coach Jeremy was the lead assistant coach for the Matrix 2019/4th Grade Green team, a Division II team that earned a Division I 4th place medal in the highly competitive Potomac Valley District Qualifying Tournament. Due to the head coach’s schedule, Jeremy served as head coach at many of the team’s games and practices.
Coaching Philosophy. His coaching philosophy is to work together as a team in a full court pressure defense which leads to a more open free lanced offense style. He works tirelessly on fundamentals and improving individuals skills.
